Multicolour SVG Icon set

The easy solution here is to just give in and go with the single colour font option that Bootstrap 5 provides, but I have not given up on keeping my nice multicolor icons. The locations I've reviewed so far ...

Free Collections

  1. twemoji - Originally a Twitter project, but now open source. Only niggle for me is the rounded corners to the flags.
  2. CoreUI - nice set of full colour flags but icon set is monochrome.
  3. Bootstrap - Provided as a font set which I can perhaps edit to add multi-colour vesions as needed. Repository on github
  4. Noto Emoji - Google fonts sourced suite of icons. Repository on github
  5. OpenMoji - Many icons are simply monochrome, targeting Emojis specifically. Repository on github

These look like a nice starting and it would seem that I am behind the times and all seem to be Unicode Complianr in particular the Emoji spec and so this is the way to go. Currently looking into spending pennies on Birdfont so I can edit colour fonts as the free version only allows monochrome. What is holding me up is the fact that it is dificult to navigate the application since it's font is far too small and is not respecting the scaling selection on the KDE desktop. Not found anything similar as yet.

Free library sites

  1. SVG Repo - This is really a large library of icons but in small individual collections. No way to select a generic icon set for the framework.
  2. Free SVG Icons - This is actually a nice display of a large number of icon libraries. Mainly monochrome, but there are some useful colour ones to download one at a time.
Looks like a useful starting point to search for the source libraries.
  3. icons-icons - Eclectic mix of icons but seems to link to oher sites to download
(Note to self - don't use secure password from Firefox - did not work when loging back in)
  4. Dryicons - Actually a nice set of functional icons, just don't fancy downloading one at a time

None-free 'free' sites

  1. Flaticon - only the PNG versions are free, the rest are on a monthly subscription.
  2. icons8 - Limited free SVG versions.rest are via a subscription
  3. FreePic - Free PNG, Premium SVG via a subscription
  4. Figma - Requires registration so I cut out ...
  5. Iconshock - Free PNG, Premium SVG via a subscription

Going to check through Free SVG Icons and drill down into the nice libraries. CoreUI came from that rather than the search engine.
