LocalHub acts a switching centre for messages between the various machines on a network system. Various levels of operation are provided depending on the system configuration required.
At a base level, the module starts, stops and monitors other programs on the target computer. Up to 8 programs can be controlled and monitored, feeding back status to the master EQUIPMENT database. The central control module provides clock information to the LocalHub via a broadcast message and program status is monitored on a one minute base, so that programs will be restarted if they have failed during the previous minute, and LocalHubs which fail to respond within a minute are flagged as unaccessable..
In addition, LocalHub provides a FTP server option, which is used to allow copying of files from the target machine back to an operator position. The FTP facility on the main server is used to relay files out to the remote locations via LocalHub messaging.
Where the target machine provides a local station server, the LocalHub replicates the records from the main server to a local copy of the Timetable. This allows the outstation to freerun, when the network connection has been lost. In this state, the LocalHub decides what displays should be active and how the machine will run until the network connection has been restored.
